Anxiety

6 months have passed since my last post. A lot of things happened and
a lot of things have been done for the preparation. There are still a
number of things to do and some issues to decide on. Small details
as they are, I still can't seem to calm down. Pre-wedding jitters? ^_^;;

Wedding jitters or not though, here's one of the reasons why I can't
keep calm. It appears I am not yet a certified Christian. By that I
mean I don't have a proper baptismal certificate. ^_^;; It kinda
follows that I haven't had the sacrament of Confirmation too yet. Partly
because of this, our December vacation would have lesser idle time than
I could have wished for.

We only have 2 months to go. So little time, but I hope we could make
up for it when we get home. See you guys at the wedding. (",)

i hear wedding bells ringing!!!

it is less than four months to go for our wedding and we still have so many things to arrange and plan. jon is taking care of the song list and the menu. while i'm taking care of the flowers and of course my wedding gown. ;) hehehe i'm happy that we are planning this together. i don't think i can do it by myself.

~~~~~
i'm so excited for our pre-nup pictorial this december. i am still not decided if we are doing it in UP or doing it someplace else. we definitely want to be close to nature and i'm sure we will enjoy the experience. i have been exchanging emails with mimi and have been having fun planning this. i will post the pictures here afterwards. ;)
A Date With The Wedding Planner - Day 2
Day 2 wasn't as hectic as day 1 as our only travel itinerary was in Makati to meet our gown/barong designer for the wedding. I met with Cha at McDonalds Quezon Avenue cor. Edsa then we drove to Makati in her classic Benz. It took as about an 45 minutes to get to our destination.
We were welcomed by Joel Bautista's assistant in his office. It really surprised me when I learned that Joel Bautista actually has an MD degree. I can't place which one is his hobby, doctoring or designing. Nonetheless, I was impressed. ^_^
Taking my measurements took less than 5 minutes. I haven't decided on the design for my barong yet but so far, among the samples Joel has shown me, I picked two. I'm still waiting for more sample designs from Joel right now before making my final choice.
That's about the core activity for day 2. Since my schedule that day was also packed to the brim, we've decided to discuss the other wedding concerns by phone and text messaging throughout the remainder of the week.
=====================
Looking back at the target tasks to accomplish I posted before my vacation ....
1.) First communion
2.) Meet cha for discussions regarding wedding concerns
3.) food tasting
4.) get my measurements taken for my wedding getup
5.) inform our primary sponsors that they are our primary sponsors
I failed to accomplish task #1. As I thought, it was impossible to find a church that offers to give this sacrament in such a short notice. On top of that it was also a busy week for the church as we were in the middle of the Holy Week.
4 out of 5 major tasks were accomplished yet we are still behind schedule. Cha reassured me that all the remaining items to take care of for the wedding are already minor ones. I guess it means those concerns do not need to be addressed immediately. >_< I still can't help but feel uneasy though. There are still a lot of things to do.
=====================
Targets by end of April
Final Drafts for the ff:
1.) Entourage/Sponsors
2.) Guest List
Research:
1.) Invitation Design
2.) Musicians for ceremony and reception
Issues:
1.) Lighting for the garden reception
A Date With The Wedding Planner - Day 1
It sure is hot in the Philippines during summer. Nevertheless, I've enjoyed every minute of my short vacation. Met a lot of friends, caught up with family matters, stories and issues, and of course, spent time working on our wedding preparations.
A couple of days before my vacation, Cha and I agreed on spending 2 whole days together for planning and bonding time (",). The activities were not well planned but the most important tasks to be done during those two days were 1.) conduct an occular with cha at the wedding and reception sites, 2.) food tasting courtesy of our chosen caterer, and lastly 3.) measurement taking for my barong.
Day 1 with Cha covered the first two tasks. We had a sort of a fun (or should I use the term funny instead) trip on our way to the occular site. We took a wrong turn and ended up passing by Tagaytay to get to Silang Cavite. ^_^;; I'm really not that inclined to observe and memorize the roads I pass especially if I'm just a passenger at the backseat. That day I learned my lesson.
Visiting La Salette for the 2nd time, our first target was the chapel. When we set foot inside, the first thing I noticed was Cha going into her own private world.....walking slowly and looking at all the details of the chapel as if calculating something. As to be expected, she was already compiling mental images of the wedding ceremony. If you don't know or haven't noticed through the pictures, The La Salette chapel has a unique shape. Cha already envisioned the entrance of the entourage as well as Mel's grand entrance too. It's going to be dramatic though a bit challenging for our photographers. ^_^ (Wanna see how it turns out? Better be present during our wedding. :-D)
Chapel done, we went to see Sister Mirna to inquire about the possible rooms that we could use to stay the night before the wedding. We have the option of staying at some hotel in Tagaytay but Fr. Sal (Mel's uncle) offered that we could use the rooms they have that is usually utilized for retreats. So we went and took a peek to see if the rooms were adequate for a bride to be on the night before her wedding. Of course with her make-up artists, photographers and all. It should also be good enough for the groom but since the bride's requirements are almost always higher than the groom's.....hehehe ^_^. Investigation results : the rooms in the Jubilee Center building are good enough based on my (and Cha's) opinion. It'll still be all upto Mel's decision though once she sees the pictures.
Next is the reception site. One look at the Pilgrimage Center (gymnasium type building), Cha said there's no way we're going to have the reception in there. ^_^;; Well, she didn't actually say that straight to my face but I kinda felt she would have said that if we were good buddies. Hehe, she made do with changing the topic to "sayang naman, nasa garden na tayo tapos gymnasium reception yung gagawin", hehehe.
So there we go, instead of sticking with the original plan of having the wedding around lunch time and staying under the shade of the Pilgrimage Center during the reception, we moved the time of the wedding to 4 pm. ^_^ And now we have a garden reception to look forward too. Yep, can't wait to see how it turns out. La Salette does have impressively vast and fairly beautiful grounds.
Moving on, we went back to Bicutan and met with my Mom and my younger brother before going to the food tasting place. It took some minutes to prepare the presentation and the food so I had some time to take pictures of the sample arrangements of tables and decors offerred by Mrs. Cortes and co. (our caterer for the wedding).
I was expecting to have a taste of all the offered dishes in their menu. It was a bit discouraging when I learned that that was not the general case during food tastings. In any case, the food we were served with were great. For a rating from A to E A being the highest, I'll give it a B. The Oriental buttered chicken and Roast Beef Tips with some sort of gravy tasted really good. What worries me is that my younger brother made a remark that the food tasted like my Mom's cooking. So it's either my mom can really cook restaurant quality dishes, or the opposite which means.......anyway, I just hope it's the latter. Haha! ^_^;;
flowers and jumping
i have this urge of jumping into a plane to manila. jon is there right now. aside from i really want to be with him, i really wish that i can go home and prepare our wedding myself. (but if i do go home i don't know if i can still afford a wedding, i'll probably just elope)
he is scheduled to spend quality time with our wedding coordinator. i hope everything goes well. i'm always bugging him for details and also for things that he shouldn't forget. hahaha and at the same time i can't get enough of hearing his voice even though i usually throw tantrums while we are talking. i hate being away from him.
right now, i am thinking about the flower arrangements that i want to see in our wedding - listing down the flowers that i like and thinking if everything will go well together. hehehe i even asked jon to go to dangwa to check out the flowers there that is if he still has time. he will only be in manila for a week and then fly back to japan.
yey, 9 months before the wedding...
This and That
It's been a while since I've written here. A lot of things have been happening and I got my hands full until just recently.
Updates:
The first wave of measurements from members of the entourage was already done. Mel's Mom, Ate Kaye, Chris, Chi, and Clarice are the first to have their measurements taken. That leaves my mom and sister, and the others living outside the country like Ayen. Oh, and also the members who aren't aware yet that they are part of our entourage. =))
I'll be going home soon for my supposedly first vacation afte a year of work in the Land of the Rising Sun. Wish I could have more time but I can only spend a week at most. And to top that, I'll be going home during the Holy Week so I guess meeting all my friends is out of the question. People tend to go to retreats and provinces during the Holy Week after all.I do hope I can meet even some of them. ^_^
Here is the list of the things I have to do for the wedding preparations when I get home:
1.) First communion (yep ^_^;;)
2.) Meet cha for detailing and discussions of issues and stuff for the wedding
3.) food tasting
4.) get my measurements taken for my wedding getup
5.) inform our primary sponsors that they are our primary sponsors ^_^
The problematic task would be finding a church that would give 2nd and 3rd sacraments on a Holy Week. Next one would be the sponsor hunt. The rest will just eat up a lot of time but will relatively be easy compared to these two.
The list of suppliers to be decided upon is still long. The florists, the musicians/band, sound system, and invitation design should be chosen by end of March. As it is we're behind schedule. Hopefully we can sort things out faster when I get to meet Cha-cha during my vacation.
designer
i really need to choose the designer for the entourage asap. but i am having a dilemma and still can't decide who it will be. i am not sure if i'm getting one for my wedding gown and another one for the entourage or just one designer for all. my coordinator did suggest that it would be better to pick only one so that the flow of the style of the dresses will somehow be harmonious with each other. but stubborn as i am, i can't let it rest with that. hahaha the glaring fact that time is running out doesn't even make me move an inch into making a final decision. (indecisive as ever!)
i need to think about stuff(i.e. budget, style, theme, list of entourage...) before deciding and at the same time telling myself that i should NOT be pressured. i tried hard to convince myself. ;) (no worries jon, i feel better now. i guess it did work a little and thank you.)
i did give myself a deadline before and should have decided last week. and now i am giving myself another deadline... deadliest deadline - i should decide by friday. no extensions. period.
caterer
we have finally decided on our caterer. yey! it has been a long 2 weeks for us. arguing, coordinating, researching, and then finally compromising. we were a little hesitant at first because we wanted to get one that is near our reception place. we heard a lot of horror stories wherein the caterer did not arrive on the wedding day or that the food was no longer in good condition. we wanted to make sure that we pick one that is reliable and of course one who cooks delicious food.
aside from the food we also checked out how they made the centerpieces, and flower arrangements. These will have a great impact since the place of our reception is very plain. i do want a lot of flowers and i even suggested to jon to buy them and do the arrangement myself. no, i'm not that artistic just obsessive. hahaha;)
next one that we need to decide on is the designer of the gowns. hope we decide on this before the end of the week so that my mom and sisters can have their measurements taken before they fly to their new home overseas.
3 Down, More To Go....
So far, so good. We've manage to book 2 of the 4 major suppliers we have to decide on for our wedding. Photographer and Videographer down, and currently in the middle of deciding who our caterers will be on our big day.
The list of things to do is still quite long with so few items having a check mark under the "done" column. I sure am glad we managed to find ourselves a good wedding planner.
A dear cousin just offered help two days ago. She's an architect and seems to like designing and events planning too. ^_^ Maybe I should let her be of help? Any ideas how? Bring her at the wedding site maybe to help with the decor conceptualization?
videographer
i am finding it hard to choose the right videographer for our wedding. thinking about the style of how i want our video should turn out and also of course our budget constraint. though i did find good videographers for reasonable prices, i just can't help thinking about the really good expensive ones that make me drool. i also hope we get them booked on time.
i want our wedding video to be simple and natural. i do not like artificial staged scenes. semi-staged scenes are ok, the ones that still look natural... i want to see the faces of the guests, i want to feel their emotions...
i am also planning on creating our pre-nup video that will be shown to our guests. i know it is painful to edit. but i really want to make one. i have always wanted to make one. i'm not that artistic but i do hope that it turns out good. ;)
for jon....
i want our wedding to be simple and i also want to see our parents and family happy. i want to able to invite as many special people in our lives as we can. ;) hopefully we'll be able to fit them there and that we'll have enough budget.
sometimes i feel afraid and anxious. i want everything to be perfect... but i know i should take one step at a time and not do everything all at the same time. i go nuts thinking everything will go awry and it is good that you are there to calm me. i love that about you. i love everything about you. i feel that whenever i'm with you i'm a better person. thank you. mwah!
Memories to keep....
Fotogra Weddings by Mimi and Karl (http://fotogra.ph/)
We've found them and booked them right away. ^_^
Their work is awesome. ;-)
Now if only we could decide on the prenup site easily. It sure
would be nice to have one in our dear UP campus, where our
love story began. Hehe...
